After boarding the Euro Star I was set on just sleeping more. I was still not well and it was our last day before leaving so I had to make sure I could get the most out of it that I could. I slept most of the way. After getting off in St. Pancas we decided to go to Kings Cross which are right next to each other. If you don't know already Kings Cross is featured in the Harry Potter books. Its the station where you board the train to Hogwarts. There you will find a Platform 9 3/4 that you can take pictures by, which we did. A lot of my coworkers joke that Josh is Harry Potter so a lot of people loved his photo.
We got on the tube and went back to the flat to drop off our stuff. The last big thing I wanted to do was go through the Tower of London. We had gone by it a few times at this point but hadn't gone inside. This summer an installation of poppies around the Tower was completed http://poppies.hrp.org.uk each poppy represents a person that past in the first world war. Its extremely moving to see it, my pictures don't do it justice. One of my favorite parts of it was something I have no pictures of which was the Crown Jewels. There is no photography allowed in the exhibit and trust me they watch you like crazy. Oh everything in there was so breath taking and the history is so fascinating to read about. I read everything I could about every piece it was so interesting.
Josh's favorite thing was the ravens that live there. Legend says "If the Tower of London ravens are lost or fly away, the Crown will fall and Britain with it." Their feathers are also clipped so they don't fly away. Now another thing I got to see, which I didn't at Buckingham Palace was changing of the guard. Since the tower is still a royal residence there are guards everywhere so I was so excited when I got to see the change. We spent a while here it was such a beautiful day.
After leaving the Tower we went and got a couple of souvenirs. After that we wanted to grab some pints and dinner. Now I had made a really tough decision at the beginning of the day. I had originally made reservations at Gordon Ramsay's Maze however I also had the problem of still not having had fish and chips! So instead of going to Maze I had to find a place to get fish and chips that would also have something Josh could eat which was partially why I hadn't had it yet. I found a place next to Big Ben, it seemed fitting. We had pints and wrote postcards to people and ate. After leaving we walked around by Westminster Abbey and it was the perfect end to our trip.
That morning we woke up and I had pretty much packed the night before. We just had a few things to finish packing then off to Heathrow. I've heard of people spending a lot of time going through security at Heathrow so I wanted to leave with plenty of time. We checked in and went through security pretty smoothly. We didn't have a gate number so we went and got breakfast and coffee while we waited. It was really sad not only were we leaving but I was missing Launch Day for the iPhone 6 and 6+. Our plane would take us to Seattle which was 9 and a half hours. We took advantage of the international traveling perks which included a large selection of movies to watch and free alcohol. This really helped shorten the trip.
After landing in Seattle we went through immigration, customs, had to recheck our big bag, then had to go through security again! It wasn't the smoothest process and what was suppose to be a 2 hour layover ended up being more like 20 minutes which we went and grabbed coffee. Its a 2 hour flight from Seattle to San Francisco. It went by pretty fast but at that point I just wanted to get home. I dreaded the hour BART ride home. We made it though and our birdies were home waiting for us with Ali who we can't thank enough for watching them.
What an unforgettable trip we had =)
